By the Community, For the Community

Caring for the land of Serpentine Jarrahdale

Working to secure a future for our environment — supporting local groups to improve our land, bush and waterways.

Our Vision

To provide the means for the community to care for the land today, in a way that will leave it better for tomorrow.

Connect

We connect people to the unique landscapes and ecosystems of the Serpentine–Jarrahdale region through events, education and hands-on involvement.

Respect

We build understanding and respect for our local environment, acknowledging the Noongar people as traditional custodians of this land.

Act

We facilitate, support and drive conservation action — from revegetation and weed control to wildlife monitoring and waterway rehabilitation.

Our Projects

The Black Cockatoo Project

The Black Cockatoo Project helps protect endangered black cockatoos by providing artificial nesting habitats and supporting conservation efforts.

Healthy Habitats

Healthy Habitats is a partnership program that helps local landowners protect and manage natural bushland on their properties.

Planting

Landcare SJ coordinates ongoing community planting initiatives to restore native bushland and waterways across the Serpentine Jarrahdale region. These projects bring together volunteers, schools, and local groups to plant native species and improve the health of local ecosystems.

Volunteer

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our conservation efforts. From restoring local ecosystems to monitoring rare wildlife, your time and passion create a tangible impact. Whether you’re a seasoned expert or just beginning your environmental journey, there’s a place for you in our programs.

Thank you!

Many thanks to past donors who have supported research and development, and placement of Cockatube nestboxes. The Cockatube has been used to compliment ever diminishing breeding habitat for at least six Black Cockatoo species across Australia.

Landcare Serpentine-Jarrahdale has donated over 150 Cockatubes through support in our donor program, particularly into fire ravaged areas since 2019, both in Western Australia, and across east coast and South Australia – it’s not only people who lose their homes. Donations have contributed to scientific R&D, leading to better understanding of optimal breeding habitat for all species of Black Cockatoo, through Landcare SJ’s program of continuous design improvement. Your support is making a difference. Please consider.

Donations over $2 are tax deductible in Australia.
